Greg Monroe

It was made official in the past couple weeks that Greg Monroe is officially signed his qualifying offer of 5.47 million to play with the Pistons this next season. In other news Greg Monroe was also arrested recently for “driving while visually impaired”. It was reported he was so drunk with that he urinated himself while he was being booked. Can I call karma that he urinates on himself after urinating on the Pistons this off season? It was reported by Zach Lowe that Monroe was uninterested in signing with the Pistons so long as they had Josh Smith on the team. Besides all of Detroit and Atlanta basketball fans who can hate on J-Smoove, c’mon now. It was further reported by sources that Monroe was avoiding signing offer sheets from other teams like J-Smoove avoids stepping inside the 3 point line. Or like Harden avoids playing defense. Or like LeBron avoids eye contact with Wade now. The point is Monroe was avoiding giving the Pistons the chance to match an offer sheet and retain him for the future. Where does that leave the Pistons? Continue reading Greg Monroe

NBA Round Up

NBA Roundup

March Madness is going on. There is was slight glimmer of hope of winning a billion dollars from that bracket that has now made its yearly trip through the shredder. Upsets have not failed to surprise us. Players have taken a ride on the emotional roller coaster. So what could be more exciting? The NBA, that is what could be more exciting. Don’t get me wrong NCAA basketball is enjoyable, but March Madness only really serves as a reminder that NBA playoffs are fast approaching. People can bitch about the NBA calls, but if not horrible they are at least consistent. The NCAA has no real definition of a foul and calls vary from game to game. Imagine that a NCAA game is the movie Back to The Future. Great movie? Yes. So many inconsistencies that its mind rattling, adding to the support of the “ignorance is bliss” life style? Yes. On top of the refs the quality of play difference is similar to the difference between a Ferrari and a Toyota. But we are not here to debate about the NCAA, my main reason from coming out of writing hibernation was the tardiness of Bill and Jalen’s 33 day Birdmester video(if you’re still reading this, then you probably know about them already or you would be interested in them). So here is my attempt to get out all the NBA dialogue I have been waiting to hear. Continue reading NBA Round Up

State of The Pistons

Last night the Pistons fired their head coach Mo Cheeks. During his short stay in Detroit, he amassed a record of 21-29. Joe Dumars, the Pistons General Manager, felt this could possibly be the stimulus that they needed to turn their season around. Joe Dumars is also in the last year of his contract and is desperate to make more than an 8th seed playoff push. This definitely comes off as a desperation move when the coach is definitely not the biggest problem. Mo Cheeks was handed Joe Dumars’ freak creation of team. If Joe Dumars thinks that firing Mo Cheeks is going to solve the Pistons problem he is more delusional than I thought. Continue reading State of The Pistons

Takeaways from Thunder v. Heat

This game had been highly anticipated and for good reason. Both teams are serious title contenders, but mainly for the fact that the two best current players in the world were going head to head. Regardless of the score a match between the Heat and the Thunder rarely disappoints. Durant managed to pu up 33 points on his way to 12 consecutive games with 30+. Sherman is Right

Everyone has their own opinion about Richard Sherman after his NFC Championship post game interview.

His name has been mentioned on all social networks (yes even myspace) many different channels on TV. He has always been a talker and a self-advertiser. By now people are probably sick of hearing about his name and his story and for that reason I attempted to not write a cliché article about the man. However, I find people’s polarized opinions (especially the negative ones) to be incredibly interesting. Continue reading Sherman is Right

NBA All-Star Team: Revised

NBA All Star Team
The League has experience its fair share of highs and lows in the first half of an interesting season. All-Star balloting has finished up and fans have spoken. Like most sports industries the fans have a say in the All Star team and for God’s sake they should! This is America, where democracy and capitalism rule. We fought off Redcoats for this right? However, Jeremy Lin was the 4th highest backcourt votes receiver in the West, ahead of his teammate James Harden. Kobe also topped the list of All Star guards from the West, behind only Steph Curry. Tip of the hat to those players to win over the hearts and minds of NBA fans while playing poorly or not playing at all. We, Joe Lauzon and I, took it upon ourselves to revise and edit the All Star rosters to what we believe they should look like. Here is what the voting looked like: Continue reading NBA All-Star Team: Revised

No Love in L.A.

A few nights ago Nick Young also known as Swaggy P got into a “fight” against the whole Phoenix Suns’ team. Nick Young attempted to posterize Alex Len. Len responded appropriately with a hard foul. The announcers really antagonize Swaggy P here, but in fairness it was a hard foul regardless of what they say. Swaggy P is known as a drama queen. He is to basketball as Nick Cannon is to Drumline.
